RIHANNA SAYS NEW ALBUM WILL BE ‘TIMELESS’
While promoting her animated film Home, the singer spoke with MTV News about the follow-up to 2012’s Unapologetic.
Rihanna’s eighth album still doesn’t have a title or release date, but she is sharing a few more details about the highly-anticipated project.
“I’ve made a lot of songs that are really, really big songs,” she said. “And I wanted to kind of get back to—not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.”
She admitted that some of her past hits haven’t aged as well, but hopes her new material will transcend time.
“I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years; I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years,” explained RiRi. “Not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don’t want to perform a lot of my songs. They don’t feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless.”
So far, the album has spawned the top 5 hit “FourFiveSeconds” featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney and the Alex Da Kid-produced “American Oxygen,” which she debuted in a promo for March Madness.
