Casey Kasem’s body still hasn’t been buried – in part because his wife arranged a private autopsy amid claims of elder abuse, a well-placed source told the Daily News.
Jean Kasem paid for the private autopsy after the radio icon died in a hospital on Father’s Day and was transferred to a mortuary in Washington state, where he allegedly remains a month later, the source said Wednesday.
His eldest daughter Kerri Kasem filed a formal police report in Santa Monica, Calif., after the death claiming Jean, her estranged step-mom, hastened his demise by removing him from a nursing home in the middle of the night against his doctor’s wishes May 7 and taking him to a private residence outside Seattle.
The source said Santa Monica Police are aware of Jean’s private autopsy and sent a letter to Washington authorities on the possibility of scheduling an official state autopsy.
“Investigators are working with Adult Protective Services, and they want an unbiased autopsy they can rely on,” the source said.
Casey Kasem, 82, died at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Wash., on June 15 after battling advanced Lewy Body Disease and sepsis related to an infected bed sore, Kerri previously told The News.

He was the subject of a bitter family feud that exploded last summer when his three oldest children accused Jean of blocking visitation once the “American Top 40” star lost the ability to walk on his own or talk on the phone.
Kerri’s younger sister Julie, 38, filed a petition to become her dad’s conservator late last year as Jean claimed her stepdaughters created a "toxic" environment at her house.
An independent, court-appointed lawyer met with Kasem and confirmed he wanted to continue seeing his kids from his first marriage, so the sides reached a shaky settlement.
Kerri, 42, won her own conservatorship in May after Jean pulled Kasem out of his Santa Monica nursing home in the middle of night.
Jean disconnected her husband’s feeding tube and loaded him into the backseat of an SUV despite warnings he could die, according to signed statements from Kasem’s doctor and nurse obtained by private investigator Logan Clarke and shared with The News.
Best known for her roles in “Ghostbusters” and the sitcom “Cheers,” Jean
